NASHVILLE, TN -- Gibson Guitar has been granted more time to prepare for its federal court hearing concerning imported wood confiscated by federal agents at its plants.
The hearing that was to have taken place today has been rescheduled for Jan. 30, according to the Associated Press.
Gibson is seeking the court to overturn an earlier ruling that prevents the company from reclaiming its wood until after the government has completed its investigation. The federal government alleges that the wood was imported in violation of the Lacey Act.
Armed agents of the Department of Justice seized more than 10,000 fingerboards made of Indian rosewood, guitars and other potential evidence during the Aug. 25 raids of Gibson's plants. Gibson's plant also was raided in November 2009 for allegedly importing illegally harvested mahogany from Madagascar.
Charges have yet to be filed in conjunction with either raid. Gibson Guitar has issued public statements proclaiming its innocence.
