ROME, GA -- A leading Georgia soybean farmer has made a name for himself growing and selling paulownia internationally.
According to the Rome News-Tribune, Jack Dickey, owner of Dickey Seed Co., Dickey has worked to develop markets for the lightweight, yet strong paulownia tree.. He produced his first paulownia-based plywood in July 2000 and shipped the first order of American-grown paulownia log timber to Japan in 2007.
Dickey has also capitalized on the wood's use in producing OSB and sees a future for it to make pellets as a source of biomass energy.
