Furniture buying shows upswing, says TD Economics
TORONTO -- Purchases of furniture and cars are up, says TD Economics, as the U.S. economic recovery is continuing to gain traction as it moves further away from the financial crisis and recession.

U.S. consumers roared back to life in the fourth quarter of 2010 with growth in durable goods spending as household balance sheets are stabilizing. Although spending will be restrained by diminished household wealth, TD Economics says much of the correction in household behavior has already taken place.

The other bright spot is the jobs gains - 200,000 last month.
