HERMANTOWN, Minn. – A former Minnesota lumber supply store owner is being investigated by police for allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from his customers.
Hermantown Lumber Company has been in business for nearly 50 years. Now, former owner Gerald Sundquist, who closed the store last month, is being accused by more than 50 customers of never completing their orders.
Several local news outlets are reporting that the unfilled orders amount to more than $300,000. Many customers have filed lawsuits against Sundquist, but a few said they aren't expecting to get their money back.
Police have not yet charged Sundquist. The investigation is ongoing.
A new company, Minardi Millwork and Lumber, now operates at Hermantwn Lumber's former location. Minardi has no affiliation with Sundquist or Hermantown Lumber.
