WOODSTOCK - The Vermont Wood Manufacturers Association (VWMA) will be hosting the 11th Annual Vermont Fine Furniture, Woodworking & Forest Festival on September 27 - 28, 2014.
The two-day festival will gather more than 40 woodworking companies as they exhibit fine furniture, carvings, hand turned bowls, cutting boards, inlaid jewelry, wooden toys and the stories behind each piece. Food vendors, hands-on activities and live music will also highlight the event, in addition to a demonstration space showcasing techniques handed down in the Vermont woodworking tradition.
The festival coincides with its partner event, the Forest Festival, which takes place nearby at the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park. Additional woodworking and sawmill demonstrations, horse drawn wagon rides, forest walks, and educational workshops will be available at the National Park, and a complimentary shuttle will transport guests between locations.
Known as Vermont’s premiere Forest to Table event, the Vermont Fine Furniture, Woodworking & Forest Festival celebrates the work of local stewards, foresters, tree farmers, loggers, sawmill operators, and woodworkers who rely on each other to support a sustainable economy.
"Quality hardwood logs do not grow overnight from a sapling, but stand for many decades under the careful stewardship of woodland owners," says VWMA executive director Kathleen Wanner, "This story is shown full circle from tree to table at Vermont’s premiere Forest to Table event."
The event is also set to take place as Woodstock begins to take on its fall colors. the town has been named "The Prettiest Small Town in America" by Ladies Home Journal magazine, and one of the "Top 25 Foliage Towns in New England," by Yankee Magazine.
