The 2011 Smoke Bear Awards are now in the hands of the judges, after nominations closed Feb. 17.
The Smokey Bear Award, established in 1957, recognizes people or organizations that provide sustained, outstanding service -- with significant program impact on helping prevent wildfires, including increasing public awareness.
The program is sponsored by the U.S. Forest Service, the National Association of State Foresters (NASF), and the Advertising Council.
