Fire Damages Southern Finishing's Martinsville PlantMARTINSVILLE, VA — No injuries have been reported from yesterday's fire at Southern Finishing Co.'s Church Street plant in Martinsville, VA.

According to a report in the Martinsville Bulletin, the cause of the fire was a machine in the finishing room. The fire was contained quickly, though the building sustained smoke damage throughout the 10,000-square-foot finishing area. No cost estimates for the damage have been given at this time.

In business since 1978, Southern Finishing specializes in prefinishing and manufacturing mouldings, kitchen and bath components, accessories, panels, doors, and bedrails to specifications. According to the company's website, Southern Finishing is based in Stoneville, NC, and has more than 325 employees. The company has four manufacturing plants, two in Martinsville, VA, and two in Stoneville, NC, along with warehouses North Carolina and Arizona.
