Delta Chidren's Products President Receives K.I.D.S.'s AwardNEW YORK -- Joseph Shamie, president of Delta Children's Products, which includes wood furniture and other products for infants and toddlers, was recently honored with the Humanitarian Award from Kids In Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.) at the organization's annual gala in New York City.

Since its inception in 1985, K.I.D.S. has donated more than $1 billion worth of baby products for needy children.

Shamie and Delta have focused on the issue of safe sleep environments for infants, a topic that has garnered much media attention as the result of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's ban of drop-side cribs. Shamie and Delta have stepped up efforts to educate parents on sleeping habits, as well as donating new cribs to children in need worldwide.

Delta reissued a voluntary recall of 985,000 drop-side cribs in April, triggered by the report of the death of a second child.
