Columbia Forest Products to Invest $3 Million at Hearst, ON, Plant

PORTLAND, OR – Columbia Forest Products announced plans to invest $3 million to upgrade its hardwood plywood mill in Hearst, ON.

Columbia said it plans to buy an automatic wood-patching line, to improve hardwood plywood production. The investment is being made possible by a grant from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources Prosperity Fund.

“We’re making these improvements to our Hearst mill because the company is committed to the plant’s success during these difficult economic times,” said Tim Schallich, Columbia’s Canadian general manager. “This facility is essential to our company-wide mission to produce the greenest, most sustainable products in the industry – FSC-certified, formaldehyde-free, prefinished or any combination of such.”
