CHESAPEAKE, VA - Chesapeake Hardwood Products Inc., whose plywood plant closed in mid-2008, is seeking protection from its creditors in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
Sourcing the Chesapeake Hardwood Products Chapter 11 petition filed on Jan. 20, Hampton Roads said the company has $13.6 million of liabilities and assets of $6.1 million.
Before it closed, the Chesapeake-based company produced plywood for cabinets, wall paneling and commercial applications. The company blamed its demise on the downturn in homebuilding.
