JEFFERSONVILLE, IN - Champion Wood Products, a manufacturer of wood components for the cabinet and housing markets, will invest more than $1 million to relocate its operations to an existing 56,000 square-foot plant in Sellersburg, IN. The move is expected to create up to 55 new jobs by 2013.
Champion says it has outgrown its existing 35,000-square-foot manufacturing operation in Jeffersonville, IN. The wood products company has been manufacturing in Indiana for more than 50 years.
Champion Wood Products told the Indiana Economic Development Commission it will begin hiring production workers this fall, with additional new hiring planned over the next two years as facility upgrades are completed.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Champion Wood Products up to $275,000 in performance-based tax credits based on the Champion's job creation plans. The town of Sellersburg will provide additional property tax abatement.
"Business growth is more critical now than in recent memory," says Sellersburg, IN town board president Brian Meyer. "We appreciate our businesses and the jobs they create."
