HAYWARD, Wi. - A Wisconsin cabinetmaker shut down operations mid-December after 34 years of business.
Cabaret Cabinetry employed 16 workers at its Wisconsin shop, where it manufactured custom cabinets for all rooms of the house.
An employee told the Sawyer County Record that the company told him and the other 15 workers about the closure a week before. The company also informed workers around Thanksgiving that they would be losing their health insurance coverage. The employee said despite being busy, they were told there was not enough cash flow and production to remain operational.
Cabaret employed designers, finishers, sanders, assemblers, builders, a driver, and a secretary.
The Sawyer County Record reports that the company settled a lawsuit against it in January, losing more than $179,000.
