Brown Wood Products acquires Industrial Wood Products of CT

LINCOLNWOOD, Ill. - Brown Wood Products Co. has acquired the assets of Industrial Wood Products Inc. (IWP), a supplier of custom wood components to OEM manufacturers based in Windsor, Connecticut.

The acquisition of the Connecticut-based IWP was announced on July 1 by Terry Gross, president of Brown Wood Products Co.  (DBA Brown Wood Inc.). Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“We are proud to add IWP to our portfolio and will continue to supply the needs of OEM manufacturers in the United States with quality wood parts and components," Gross said. "Since 1927 we have been providing custom wood solutions that cater to every niche and need, from industrial manufacturers to high-end retail goods purveyors.”

The Connecticut-based IWP is not related to Industrial Wood Products of Virginia, which is privately owned by Mike Lubina. A statement from Brown Wood noted, "We acquired the Industrial Wood Products of Windsor, Connecticut, and we have not acquired Industrial Wood Products of Virginia. We apologize for any confusion."

This marks the second acquisition for Brown Wood Inc. In 2019 Brown Wood acquired Good Wood, Inc. a supplier of small diameter turnings to the hobby and craft market. With the acquisition of IWP, the company said, Brown Wood further cements its role as a single-source supplier for both American-made custom wood components and commodity imported wood parts.

Headquartered in Lincolnwood, Illinois, Brown Wood Inc. is the parent company of Designs of Distinction, a stocking supplier of wood and metal components for the kitchen, bath and home, and The Gavel Co. a supplier to the awards and recognition industry. Under Made to Spec by Brown Wood Inc., the company also offers a wide range of American-made custom wood parts and components.

Brown Wood is listed in the FDMC 300, an annual ranking of the largest North American wood products producers. The company's achievements also have been detailed multiple times in the WOOD 100: Strategies of Success.
