CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Carlisle Companies Inc. has acquired Swiss-based powder coating systems manufacturer MS Oberflachentechnik AG, increasing its portfolio of finishing brands to five.  Carlisle purchased the Finishing Brands business — Binks, DeVilbiss, Ransburg and BGK — from Graco in 2015.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

A designer and manufacturer of customized powder coating systems, MS has annual sales of approximately $6 million and sells primarily to customers in Europe.  Owned by Henry Marcon for the past 25 years and operating from facilities in Balgach, Switzerland, MS has 30 employees.

In making the announcement, Carlisle President Barry Holt said, “The acquisition of MS fits squarely into our growth plans and further builds upon the global foundation of a comprehensive technology platform under the new Carlisle Fluid Technologies division. With the acquisition of MS we open up significant new incremental business opportunities with both existing and new customers who use this finishing technology.”

The MS acquisition comes approximately one year after Carlisle (NYSE:CSL) finalized its purchase of the Finishing Brands business from Graco Inc. (NYSE:GGG) for $590 million in an all-cash transaction. Carlisle's Fluid Technologies business segment has operations in 26 locations in seven countries, with 50 percent of its sales in the Americas and the remainder primarily in Asia and Europe.

In addition to the woodworking industry, Binks, DeVilbiss and Ransburg spray equipment, and BGK curing ovens, are also used in the automotive, aerospace and other commercial markets. MS' powder coating systems are also used in a variety of applications, including the finishing of MDF and metal.
