BIFMA business furniture group adds two new board members
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association, representing the commercial furniture industry, announces the addition of two industry leaders to their Board of Directors. Peter Martin, CEO at Knape & Vogt and Jeff Thompson, President at Boss Design North America were both elected to three-year terms as Directors.
The addition of these two executives demonstrates the industry’s breadth of talent and continued interest in supporting this sector of manufacturing. Peter Martin joined Knape & Vogt in 2006 and has over 35 years of manufacturing experience. He has traveled extensively in Asia and Europe and lived in Belgium for over three years.
Jeff Thompson brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise from over 18 years within the contract furniture industry. He came to Boss Design Inc. and their acquired company, Cartwright, from Humanscale to help grow the Boss Design brand across North America.
BIFMA Executive Director, Thomas Reardon, praised the addition of the two leaders. “It’s been our goal to continue to recruit leaders with rich and diverse backgrounds to both help us keep our focus on our direction as well as bring perspectives about the changes to the markets we serve. Both Peter and Jeff bring unique talents to our Board.” Reardon said. 
Both executives began their terms starting June 1, 2017 and will run through May of 2020.
BIFMA is the trade association for business and institutional furniture manufacturers. Since 1973, BIFMAʼs role has been to monitor the state of the industry, serve as a forum for member cooperation and collaboration, sponsor the development and refining of current and future standards, educate on their importance and application, and translate their necessary complexity into more easily understood and implemented formats.
