GRAYLING, Mich. – Arauco North America has shared construction updates from its new particleboard plant on a 160-acre site in northern Michigan.

In its September update, Arauco reported that 179 employees had been hired, 1.7 million total project hours had been logged since April 2017, and 850 contractors had worked on the project.

When completed, the plant will have a 10-foot continuous particleboard press measuring 52.5 meters. Two 5 x 20 Wemhoner TFL press lines will also be used, with space for a third.

In the new plant, Arauco will make thicknesses of ¼ inch to 1-3/4 inch, in widths of 4, 5 and 6 feet. Grades to be made include M3, M3i, M2, MS, and Doorcore LD1/LD2.

Progress has been reported on electrostatic precipitators, regenerative thermal oxidizers, and a log truck cleaning system.
