CALHOUN, Ga. - Chinese flooring manufacturing company Create Flooring Solutions (CFL) will invest $70 million in a new 252,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Georgia. The expansion will create 300 jobs.

CFL, a maker of wood, laminate, and luxury vinyl flooring, writes on its website that it was founded by Europeans in Shanghai, China back in 2004. The company employs 3,500 across four manufacturing plants and five offices and distribution centers in China, Vietnam, and Taiwan.

“The CFL factory and showrooms in Calhoun will drastically increase convenience of working with our partners and distributors,” said Tom Van Poyer, CFL owner and CEO. “Being able to supply products produced in the United States will allow us not only to sustain our leadership position in product design and product innovation but also create a platform allowing second-to-none service through reduced delivery times.”

Construction is set to begin soon, and plans are even in place to build another 250,000-square-foot plant "in the near future." A multitude of new positions will be hired for, including managers, laborers, craftsmen, and operators.

This is the second big investment in the county from a China-based flooring company in the last month. Late May, Chinese flooring company Huali Floors announced it would invest $27 million in its first U.S. headquarters north of Atlanta. The expansion should create at least 315 jobs.

Georgia governor Brian Kemp praised both investments.

“We are thrilled that CFL has chosen Gordon County to expand their business operations to more effectively reach their customer base,” said Governor Kemp. “The impact of this announcement will be felt across the region as the company seeks to employ 300 hardworking Georgians.”

Georgia is a leading exporter among U.S. states for floor covering products - exporting $485.4 million worth of products in 2019.
