Amazon delivery drivers could assemble furniture at your door

Amazon's upcoming furniture delivery service would involve delivery drivers assembling big-box furniture items at your door.

Drivers would remove the item's packaging and assemble it on the spot. They'd also be required to take the item back if the customer isn't satisfied, reports Bloomberg.

Customers currently must separately schedule a contractor to assemble an item if they wish.

Bloomberg says Amazon has struggled to reach the success of e-commerce furniture retailer Wayfair, which is seeing record profits. Amazon hopes the upgraded service will help it compete. Wayfair charges extra for assembly.

The service will be tested out in Virginia.
