84 Lumber names Mike Kamouyerou as 2017 Rookie of the Year
EIGHTY FOUR, Pa. - Mike Kamouyerou, co-manager of 84 Lumber’s store in Greenville, South Carolina has been selected as the company's 2017 Rookie of the Year. As part of 84 Lumber’s people-first culture and a desire to celebrate the impact individuals have on the business, the company launched its Rookie of the Year program in 2016.

“We started this program to recognize new store associates who are always looking for new ways to learn, improve, and grow,” says Frank Cicero, 84 Lumber’s chief operating officer. “Mike’s strong work ethic, positive attitude, and eagerness to challenge himself make him an exemplary Rookie of the Year and overall 84 Lumber associate. He’s well positioned to be a successful future leader for our business.”

Kamouyerou was one of more than 20 nominees selected from more than 250 stores around the country and quickly became one of four divisional finalists after exceeding expectations throughout his first year. A Pittsburgh native, Kamouyerou began his career with 84 Lumber as a manager trainee at the Bridgeville, Pennsylvania store in Feb. 2017 before being promoted to co-manager of the Greenville location in Oct. 2017.

Rookie of the Year candidates are evaluated on achievements in their first year, including promotions, growth opportunities, and commitment to 84 Lumber’s core values. Nominees are first interviewed by their area manager and divisional vice president, then each divisional finalist is interviewed by a leadership panel at the company’s team headquarters.
