EIGHTY FOUR, Pa. - 84 Lumber, a supplier of manufactured wood components and building materials, joined the tiny home movement with the launch of its new line of custom, portable micro home kits -- Tiny Living by 84 Lumber -- that it manufactures and sells to tiny home enthusiasts. The prefabricated kits range from DIY to move-in ready.

The introduction of Tiny Living makes 84 Lumber the first-ever major retailer and only large building-materials retailer to tap into this new market of affordable, custom-built houses no bigger than 200 square feet, the company says.

Tiny Homes Are a Fine Fit For Urban Spaces

The Tiny House movement is still going strong in the U.S., moving from pop culture to the mainstream over the past few years.

"The tiny home movement lies perfectly at the intersection of 84 Lumber's expertise in high-quality building materials and green building best practices," said Maggie Hardy Magerko, President and Owner of 84 Lumber. "With our national footprint and commitment to the dedicated do-it-yourselfer, we are uniquely positioned to become a part of this new path to homeownership, and are excited to offer Tiny Living on a national scale."

84 Lumber offers four tiny home models under three packages to accommodate do-it-yourselfers who want to build their own houses, those who want a move-in ready home, and everyone in between. Each model can be customized and all range in size from 150 square feet to 200 square feet (the typical U.S. home is about 2,600 square feet).

Founded in 1956 and headquartered in Eighty Four, Pennsylvania, 84 Lumber Company operates more than 250 stores, component manufacturing plants, custom door shops, custom millwork shops, and engineered wood product (EWP) centers in 30 states. 84 Lumber also offers professional residential and commercial contractors' turnkey installed services for a variety of products including framing, insulation, siding, windows, roofing, decking, and drywall.
