Neumarkt/Munich – With a watchful eye on international design trends, wodego has selected its new lines for 2011. Grey and taupe shades are a part, as are natural woods and “Specials” for specific requirements, according to a statement from Sabine Spitz, Product and Decor Manager for wodego. She adds “This season is all about naturalness and decors which have a story to tell.”

Taupe is here to stay, grey is coming in

Coming in or staying put – wodego has it all, because this Pfleiderer subsidiary dealing in wood-based products has a wealth of specialist knowledge and a strong network. Together with Duropal, wodego always features the latest trends in its range.

“Very early on in 2007 we focused on solid, earthy colours which have now become firm favourites with architects,” Spitz explains. “We are continuing this colour series with Cuando, which comes into its own with light woods.” It is not just in the area of solid colours that the grey-brown scheme is taking hold; also amongst the new wood effect products you can find elegant, warm grey variations such as Pinie Navarra grey and HiTeak, which offer endless combination possibilities thanks to their neutral colours.

Living and natural – as in their natural form

Rather less neutral and therefore seeming all the more alive and authentic are the wood effect decors, grouped by wodego under the generic term “naturalness”. Lindberg Oak, for example, with its refined European oak structure and subtle pore marking. “Timeless, elegant, simply natural,” is how Sabine Spitz summarises it “and incidentally it stands out particularly well when combined with our Matt Soft surface finish.”

Brought on by the trend for maximum naturalness, acacia wood has found a new lease of life. wodego’s lifelike interpretation of this wood, combined with the Rustica surface finish, stands out thanks to its lively play of colours and impressive depth effect. Warmer tones come in with the classic colours Soho Apple and Rialto Apple which represent a ew, modern generation of fruitwoods. The inspiration behind Viva Walnut, on the other hand, was a very refined American walnut tree. Little buds and swirls alternate with striped wood structures. Because of its sought-after brown/grey colouring, Viva Walnut is ideal for combining with the latest solid themes such as taupe and white or purple.

The “Used Look” stays in fashion and enters the home

In line with the desire for more naturalness, the “used look” which comes from the world of fashion is also making itself felt within interior decorating. A particularly fine example of this new visual appearance is the finish Klondike Grey. Bleached by sun and wind, pigmented white and grey, it interprets the current trend for surface finishes to “tell a story”. The “rough-cut” appearance of Dakota Oak Nature traces the marks of woodworking and gives the oak a particularly earthy look and an unmistakable, novel decor pattern.

A clear conscience with exotic woods by wodego

wodego is already portraying current trends in the form of its “Specials”, for example exotic and olive woods. With its typical olive wood lines, Valencia Olive brown really comes to life with flamboyance. The same with Legno – the variations Dark, Tabac and Light can be laid lengthwise or sideways and combined with the Rustica surface achieve a remarkable depth effect. This 3-D effect is only surpassed by Ebony, a modern exotic wood effect finish with deep brown veining and fiery stripes.

The Noce Macciato sapwoods turn out more subtle, but no less unusual. “Originating from an American veneer, we have supplemented our 2011 innovations with a classy walnut decor,” Sabine Spitz explains, “because the trend for dark woods is undoubtedly going to last, just as will the preference for colours which are linked with luxury.” The prime example of this is Toffee metallic, a new wodego design with mother-of-pearl effect. This decor comes into its own when combined with light woods.

Purple and Mountain Oak – that’s cool!

Another new interior decorating trend perceived by the wodego team is that of “coolness”. Sabine Spitz concludes that “purple plays a key role here”. But even wood effect finishes are well-suited to this “cool” look. First and foremost Mountain Oak in grey and dark tones with light pores. The print image for this modern oak is based on a genuine wood veneer which brings it to life. Now that’s really cool!
