Weyerhaeuser strengthens cabinetry options in the west with new manufacturer
FEDERAL WAY, WA - Weyerhaeuser is expanding its presence in the Western U.S. cabinetry industry with the addition of cabinet manufacturer Huggy Bear's Cupboards. The Oregon-based company is now offering Weyerhaeuser Lyptus® as a primary wood species for handcrafted kitchen, bath and home office lines, which it distributes through dealers along the West coast.

"We've incorporated Lyptus in our cabinetry to various degrees over the last three years and are excited to finally be able to promote it as one of our standard offerings," says Dwayne Hansen, President, Huggy Bear's Cupboards.  "It's a dense, beautiful and durable wood that helps us maintain a high level of craftsmanship in our cabinetry.  Not to mention, it's got some great environmental features that help ensure a supply for future generations. "

With over three decades of experience in the cabinetry industry, Huggy Bear's Cupboards offers reliable, customized cabinets designed to meet the specific needs of homeowners.

Lyptus is beautiful and comparable to mahogany and cherry in appearance with a fine grain, dramatic figure and rich color. The eucalyptus trees from which it comes are ready to harvest within 14 to 16 years of planting, compared to 60 to 100 years for common temperate hardwoods.

Lyptus is suited for a wide variety of interior applications, including cabinets, furniture, flooring and architectural millwork.  It is available as high-grade lumber, veneer and flooring.  Veneer is available as flitches for custom applications and layons for plywood, either plain or quarter sliced, with a limited availability of special flitches, including quartered figured or Pommele.
