VANCOUVER, WA -- Cindy Mayhak of Vancouver has walked 630 miles and lost 26 lbs this year, all without ever leaving her office. Mayhak was overjoyed when she first learned that she was the first of many winners of TrekDesk Treadmill Desk’s ongoing “Movement Revolution” contest. Little did she realize how much of an impact it would have on her health and her life at the time.
“TrekDesk is the only desk in my office now, I either walk or stand most of the day,” Cindy related on TrekDesk’s Facebook page.
“I have logged over 630 miles at my Trekdesk this year, and over 780 since I got it. I love it. When we moved into our new building (just after having won the Trekdesk) - I set my office up without a traditional desk.”
How has the TrekDesk impacted her health since she began using it? “I have lost 26 lbs this year, and maintained good health thanks to using my Trekdesk and to walking as much as I can at work.”
Did she find it difficult to walk and work at the same time? “I find that I concentrate better on tasks when I am walking and working at the same time.“ Mayhak's experience is backed by solid medical evidence that shows an increase in productivity and cognitive abilities from walking.
While some believe that they could never stand and walk all day a few weeks with the TrekDesk convinces employees this is what their body is designed to do. Mayhak has a quick answer as to whether she would ever go back to a traditional desk. “A foot injury had me sitting for almost a week & it was TORTURE. Walking at work is a way of life for me now!”
“Cindy is the first of more than a dozen winners of a TrekDesk from our regular Facebook contests that are designed to spread the word of our “Movement Revolution” in the United States,” stated Steve Bordley, CEO of TrekDesk Treadmill Desks. “Her experience is very reflective of the comments that we receive from TrekDesk users. Many are able to go off of health medications and lose significant amounts of weight. Our focus however is to educate America about the health and productivity benefits of movement, regardless of their age or body type.”
