Time Becomes More Valuable as Americans Get Set to Spring Forward

MEMPHIS, TN - When clocks spring forward on March 10, people across the U.S. will lose an hour of sleep - and for many, an hour of precious time.

Results of a recent national survey from mytimeheroes.com found that more than three out of four people, 78 percent, say saving time is very important. Furthermore, the survey indicates by an overwhelming margin that respondents would rather spend time with family than waste it on mundane activities. Ninety percent of survey respondents would spend an extra hour with their children or significant other. And to free up that extra hour, nearly 70 percent of survey participants reported they would like to have more help around the house. Ten percent would like help fixing things around the house and 9 percent would appreciate someone taking care of the yard.

Nearly 500 adults participated in the online survey at mytimeheroes.com, a website developed by ServiceMaster, one of the world's largest home services providers. The website helps busy people tap into valuable advice from time and labor saving experts, take a quick survey to identify time-dragging tasks and share what they'd do if they could get back "lost hours."

"This weekend we'll lose an hour to Daylight Saving Time – just as more and more people wish they could put a 13th hour on the clock," said Alison Boyle, ServiceMaster corporate communications. Household chores at 48.9 percent

Sitting in traffic at 36.8 percent

Waiting in line at 35.8 percent

Surfing the internet at 35.1 percent

Checking emails at 32.1 percent
