DENVER, April 27, 2010 – ProBuild Company LLC, the nation’s largest professional building materials supplier, today announced it has reached an agreement to purchase the assets of Oso Lumber Inc., a building materials supplier based in Arlington, Washington. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close on April 30, 2010.
The Puget Sound market is one of the largest housing markets in the United States and is a key strategic service area for ProBuild. The acquisition of Oso would give ProBuild the footprint necessary to efficiently service the entire market.
Oso is a leading supplier of building materials in Western Washington with six locations and operates a full range of services including truss and wall panel manufacturing, window and millwork distribution and framing optimization.
“The addition of Oso will provide tremendous benefit and value to builders serving the Western Washington market,” said ProBuild CEO Paul Hylbert. “By acquiring an outstanding company like Oso, ProBuild can combine its national scope with Oso’s local expertise and insight to offer customers unparalleled customer service and value.”
“This is a great opportunity for both Oso Lumber and ProBuild,” said Oso President Adam Lingenfelter. “Oso Lumber has a substantial market presence in the Puget Sound, and the purchase of Oso significantly strengthens ProBuild’s position here.”
Oso, a privately held corporation, was started in 1978. The company began operations with a single location in Darrington, WA and evolved to the scale it has today with six locations including a state of the art component plant located in Arlington.
