Temperance, MI - MTS Seating’s SynerGreen philosophy for environmental improvement has seen many additions over the past year in the areas of operations, processes and in education and awareness.
“We are continually advancing our SynerGreen program to ensure that our operations and manufacturing process support our commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability,” said Phil Swy, CEO of MTS Seating. “The improvements we’ve made over the last several months are notable for both the ability to improve our operations as well as our increased capacity to help our customers and clients improve theirs.”
In September of last year, MTS became the first hospitality banquet seating manufacturer to earn the GREENGUARD® Indoor Air Quality Certification on its complete line of stacking, banquet and restaurant seating. MTS has also earned the GREENGUARD Children and SchoolsSM Certification for low-emitting materials. Through our partnership with the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute, MTS now offers a Continuing Education Unit
(CEU) to the design community. Titled “Healthy Indoor Air Quality by Design”, the CEU discusses the importance of indoor air quality and how to improve it through a variety of practices.
MTS has also developed a program to provide exact environmental data for each standard chair model, and specific chair options upon request. Our Environmental Data Sheets (EDS) include construction information, recycled content, and details regarding GREENGUARD Certification for each product. This document should prove helpful to those customers seeking LEED or other certifications on their building projects.
MTS has also implemented a program to offset all sales-related travel though a partnership with NativeEnergy. Our purchase of carbon offsets helps fund renewable energy projects such as methane gas power extracted from family-run dairy farms, and wind turbine farms located on Native American lands. MTS also sought out sources to provide renewable energy to run our operations. The company currently purchases 10 percent of it energy needs from renewable energy sources such as wind and landfill gas power sources through Consumers Energy’s Green Generation program.
