Kimball Adds to Wood Surface Offerings
JASPER, Ind. (June 7, 2011) — One year after the introduction of more than 70 new sustainable panel and seating fabrics, Kimball(R) Office is proud to unveil the latest addition to the Vision collection of surface materials — wood veneers and finishes. Ten new wood finishes are joining the collection this fall, to offer clients fresh, natural-looking options that meet today’s design trends and support classic styles. Samples from the revamped surface materials platform, which was developed in partnership with Perkins+Will design principals Eva Maddox and Eileen Jones and their team of designers, will be on display in the Kimball Office Chicago showroom, 325 N. Wells St., the week of June 12.

“Kimball Office has a strong reputation of working with wood, and is capitalizing on that knowledge to provide wood and finish combinations that meet the changing tastes and aesthetics clients desire,” said Georgy Olivieri, Director of Architecture, Design, and Sustainability Strategies for Kimball Office.

The Vision collection consists of natural and premium specialty veneers. The natural, species-appropriate stains include:
• Maple – Brighton and Huntington
• Walnut – Tribeca, Midtown and Urban
• Cherry – Cordoba and Sedona
Existing finishes, Amber Cherry, Mocha Cherry, and Espresso Walnut have also transitioned into the Vision collection.

“The new selection of finishes provide clients with rich, sheer, high-impact options that allow wood’s natural characteristics to show through, making each piece unique. They complement the veneers they are specified to, which further enhances the natural look and style,” said Olivieri.

Premium specialty veneers include:
• Sapele – Sienna and Coco
• Zebrawood Composite – Clear coat

“There is an interest among many clients to incorporate the unique style of exotic wood species into the workplace. In keeping with Kimball Office’s deep-rooted commitment to responsible forestry practices, and to preserve this rare wood species, we are offering a Zebrawood composite that beautifully replicates the contrast of natural Zebrawood,” said Olivieri.

Eight coordinating wood grain laminates are also available to complement the offering.

The updated portfolio supports Kimball Office’s dedication to sustainability, through the use of natural wood veneers, Zebrawood composite, High-Pressure Laminates (HPL) Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified laminates, FSC wood options, and integration of Kimball Office’s proprietary UV-finish, Pura(R).
