LaVERGNE, TN – JET’s new 14” x 40” Variable Speed Woodworking Lathe, available in both a floor standing model (JWL-1440VSK) and a benchtop model (JWL-1440VS), offers a sliding headstock that also pivots 360 degrees with seven positive-locking positions at 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 180 and 270 degrees for a full range of outboard turning capabilities.

With a 14½” swing and 40” between centers, this lathe is perfect for a wide range of projects. The pivoting head allows the operator to rough out large objects like bowls and platters in a comfortable outboard position.

JET’s new 14” lathe is powered by a 1 HP, single phase, TEFC motor that delivers variable spindle speeds from 400 to 3000 RPM. An easy-to-read RPM display is located on the front of the headstock. Speed changes are made by turning the knob on the side of the headstock while the lathe is running.

An ACME thread in the tailstock provides better quill engagement and the anti-rotation key makes tailstock adjustments easier.

The positive locking tool rest features redesigned clamping that creates point of contact control to prevent slippage.

The optional extension bed increases the lathe’s capacity to 60” between centers. When using the floor standing model, the extension bed can be mounted in three separate positions for larger outboard turnings.
