Laichingen – the return of the Süddekor to the interzum is already a success before the trade fair even opens its doors: the finish foil D.Fin® supermatt receives one of the highly-coveted interzum awards in the “High Product Quality” category. The interzum awards are organised and presented every two years by koelnmesse in cooperation with red dot.

D.Fin® supermatt is a laminatable finish foil with a particularly low gloss level and is therefore on the cutting edge of current wood material surfacing design. D.Fin® supermatt is particularly characterised by its extremely matt and dirt-repellent surface. No fingerprints are left on this product when touched – a decisive
advantage over established surfaces that frequently harbour the problem of fingerprints in the case of supermatt gloss levels. Normal usage has no impact on D.Fin® supermatt – minor signs of use are easily removed using a damp cloth.

Innovative surface properties for various applications Furthermore, the award-winning finish foil has a noticeable roll-off effect when in contact with water. By using electron beam hardening in the manufacture of the finish foil, the end product is formaldehyde-free and therefore caters to consumer demand for non-toxic products. And Süddekor’s single-coloured D.Fin® supermatt versions achieve a special side effect: the surface lacquer also includes additional colour pigments with the aim of achieving even greater colour saturation. This foil is perfect for use as a chalk board, allowing the easy removal of any chalk. For this reason, D.Fin® supermatt in black offers completely new design possibilities for children’s bedrooms, for example, as no additional products need to be used.

D.Fin® supermatt is suitable for numerous applications in bathroom design, children’s bedroom design and living spaces; in a nutshell, where attractive matt surfaces are required. Processing can take place using all standard laminating systems for coating furniture construction wood materials. In this area, Süddekor has continually expanded its finish foil division over the past few years, most recently with the commissioning of a new electron beam lacquering system last year.

The interzum awards are organised and presented every two years by koelnmesse in cooperation with red dot. The design and innovation competition has also internationally developed into one of the most coveted awards within the sector. This year, the award, which is presented in three different categories – “Materials
and Surfaces”, “Fittings, Glass and Light” as well as “Upholstered Furniture Manufacturing and Bedding” – is being staged for the sixth time. In 2011, a total of 124 companies from 19 different countries submitted 208 products for approval. A professional jury examined all submitted products and selected the winning products, which will be exhibited separately at the ‘Messeboulevard’ venue during the interzum in Cologne from May 25 to 28, 2011.
