DANBURY, CT -- Ethan Allen is proud to have participated in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's largest build ever--seven homes built in seven days--to house tornado survivors in ravaged Joplin, MO. Representing seven different architectural styles from around the world and designed to suit the styles of the new homeowners, the homes create a neighborhood that truly reflects the diversity of America.
"This project really hits home for all of us," said Ethan Allen's Chairman, President and CEO, Farooq Kathwari. "It's humbling to see these families--who have suffered inconceivable losses due to the tornadoes--rebuild their homes and their lives."
Ethan Allen donated furniture and accessories for two homes that were built for single mothers Crystal Whitely and Crystal Cogdill, who used to be neighbors. The homes are built next door to each other so the mothers can continue to encourage and support each other as they move forward with their lives.
"We are so pleased that we were able to contribute to these projects," added Marta Eriquez, Ethan Allen's Director of Interior Design. "Turning a house into a home can be an overwhelming task in the wake of tragedy, and we hope that our furnishings helped make the transition a little easier."
The Joplin episode, which was the show's 200th episode and series finale, aired on Jan. 13, 2012 on ABC.
