Ekotrope Takes a Leap Signing Drees Homes, Homewise & Sunwood

Boston - Ekotrope, developer of cutting edge cloud based software that optimizes home building, is helping production home builders become more profitable and providing them with tools to design energy efficient homes cost effectively. Building homes can be an inefficient process and Ekotrope helps customers find the sweet spot between cost, performance, and velocity.

Three production builders across the U.S., including top 25 builder Drees Homes, have recently signed on as customers to take full advantage of the solution that Ekotrope provides.

David Metz, VP of National Purchasing at Drees Homes says, “Our industry leading DreesSmart Conservation and Building Innovations Programs assure that each home we build is smart for the environment, is built to last and offers energy usage cost savings to our customers. Ekotrope is an important building block in a comprehensive building and energy strategy that helps us future proof our homes.”

Already, dozens of production builders like Drees, Sunwood, and Homewise, employ Ekotrope solutions in their development process to get a broader view of their building options. The patented, RESNET certified solution analyzes the home as a complete system and offers the client thousands of options so they can choose the optimal solution that meets their needs.

“When you look at a house as a complete system, you make better cost/energy performance trade-offs that you just can’t make when looking at a single component in isolation. We give builders a firm grasp of the big picture, so they can control their bottom line.” says Founder and CEO Ziv Rozenblum.

Ekotrope’s unique approach, as well as their expertise were also part of this year’s Leading Builder’s of America conference on the campus of Texas A&M in College Station, TX. Rozenblum, along with Ekotrope VP of Sales and Business Development, Bill Flynn, introduced the software in front of LBA members such as Lennar, David Weekley, and KB Homes.

Backed by a team of experts in energy and systems analysis building science and software development, Ekotrope’s optimization engine grew from Founder Edward Crawley’s desire to find the most energy efficient design for his own home while keeping his costs as low as possible. Crawley, an MIT professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics, drew on NASA technology he designed to develop the technology that now helps builders analyze component tradeoffs, construction techniques and design options to find the best energy and investment combinations by zip code and fuel type among other important factors.
