Fitzgerald, Sutton and Frye-Atcherson each bring a unique industry perspective to the evaluation process. Fitzgerald offers a historical eye as a recognized national specialist on American furniture from colonial times to the present. His book, Three Centuries of American Furniture, the standard textbook in the field, was first published in 1982 and went through four printings. A revised and expanded edition was released in 1995. He is a decorative arts consultant, active in historic preservation and frequently conducts survey courses and workshops at the Smithsonian Institute.
Patrick Sutton has a unique background that influences his design perspective. He was raised in New York, the son of a famed travel journalist father and fashion model mother. This upbringing combined with his architectural studies has shaped his design process. He believes in creating a complete experience, unifying the clarity and structure of architecture with the romance and details of the decorative arts.
Frye-Atcherson has been practicing residential design for over 27 years. She is currently serving as the 2010-2012 President of the Maryland Chapter of ASID and has served as the President and Owner of Interior By Design in Annapolis, Maryland for 25 years. She was featured on HGTV’s Designer’s Challenge and has been called upon for her design expertise in numerous local and regional publications.
