After 35 Years Grace's Furniture To Go Out of Business and Close

Chicago, IL - July 16, 2010 -- Grace’s Furniture on Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago announced they are going out of business and will soon close their doors forever. The business was founded in 1974 by Julio and Digna Martinez on a hope and a dream, and after working the business together seven days a week for over a third of a century, has become a neighborhood icon for discriminating home furnishings shoppers. From their three story showroom, named for their daughter, Grace’s Furniture provides customers from this diverse ethnic community, quality furnishings, while earning a reputation for offering attentive service and outstanding values.

"The Grace’s Furniture going-out-of-business total liquidation will begin on July 22nd," said Grace Martinez, daughter of the owners. Martinez went on to say, "We have reductions of up to 75% on every item in the store. Customers can choose from a vast selection of living room groups, bedroom pieces, dining sets, and hundreds of tables, recliners and mattresses. Our 50,000 square foot showroom display and over $4 million inventory will be sold as quickly as possible and at the lowest prices in the store's history." Martinez continued, "Every item in this multi-million dollar inventory will be sold, regardless of cost...This is a wall-to-wall total sell-off. This is our way of rewarding the tens of thousands of customers who have trusted our family for so many years."

The decision to close the store was made by Julio and Digna Martinez, who have revealed plans for a major store closing event that will take place in the coming weeks. In announcing the store closing, Martinez stated, "The decision to close the store has been a difficult one. For 35 years, we have offered our clientele outstanding value, personal service and a great selection. With the current lease opportunities for the showroom, and our golden years ahead of us, we decided that the time had come to move on. This sale and our special pricing will be our way of saying thanks for the years of support to all of our loyal customers.”

The Martinez’ continued their comments about their business Sale by saying: “Grace’s is a part of the history on Milwaukee Avenue and we have loved being a part of so many families' lives and homes. But we have concluded that given our advancing years and the current economic conditions we must move on to pursue other interests. Now, during this limited time Store Closing Event we can still offer our customers the outstanding quality merchandise and values we're known for, but we will be going out of the furniture business forever”. Martinez went on to assure current customers that Grace’s will honor all existing warranties, service agreements, and complete all special orders.
