The Canadian Kitchen Cabinet Association (CKCA) has shared a new a video that celebrates the Canadian kitchen cabinet industry.  The video includes interviews with kitchen cabinet manufacturers from across Canada who speak to the benefits of buying Canadian made cabinets. The video is in response to consumers’ renewed interest in Canadian manufactured products.

Kitchen cabinet manufacturing in Canada employs more than 25,000, generates more than $4 billion in annual revenue and has been manufacturing in Canada for more than 50 years. The workforce is highly skilled, producing quality, functional spaces that turn houses into homes. From mudrooms and entertainment centers, to kitchens and bathrooms, the Canadian cabinet industry builds customized storage solutions for every room in the home. Many companies operating in this sector are family-run, generational businesses. This fact carries a unique sense of pride, ownership and longevity to continue the legacies started by the original owners, many of whom came from other countries choosing to settle and build their lives and successful businesses in Canada.

The Canadian kitchen cabinet industry is always seeking ways to improve efficiencies and technologies to remain competitive. With the ever-increasing pressures from foreign imports entering Canada below fair market value, CKCA explains, now more than ever its important consumers understand the differences between Canadian made and imported. The Canadian industry works with high standards of employment and the environment, many using water-based finishes and reduction of waste wherever possible. With Canada’s population set to grow, building more homes and other infrastructure has become increasingly important and is driving more demand for wood manufactured products including cabinetry, furniture and architectural millwork. CKCA urges governments across Canada to encourage builders to buy from Canadian manufacturers. This will help to keep the money in Canada to support the economy and communities knowing that manufacturing is the economic engine of Canada.

Amrita Bhogal, president of CKCA says:

"We’re proud to share a new video that reflects the heart, heritage, and culture of our Canadian cabinet industry. Across the country, manufacturers like Sunrise Kitchens—where we’re committed to building confidence for our customers—have grown through craftsmanship, care, and connection. As a thirdgeneration leader, I’m proud of the journey my grandparents began in the 1990s after immigrating from India. Today, Sunrise operates a 90,000 sq. ft. facility in Surrey, BC, and is home to 130 dedicated team members—including my parents and brother—who bring a forward-thinking approach to everything we do.  Canadian manufacturing plays a vital role in our economy, and it’s essential we continue to nurture and protect it. With automation at the forefront, we bring unique designs and efficient processes that serve our communities with precision and care. At Sunrise, adopting Industry 4.0 was vital to meeting demand while maintaining the highest standards of quality. Providing an exceptional experience is at the heart of what we do. CKCA has been an incredible platform to exchange ideas, inspire one another, and elevate our shared commitment to quality and innovation. We’re excited for what lies ahead and invite Canadians to keep supporting Canadian-made cabinetry—because strong communities are built by people who care.”
