The Quebec Furniture Manufacturers Association is on the rebound, recounting its strength in a sixteen-page press file on the Quebec furniture industry published in March 2017.
- After a somber period of ten years, the furniture industry in Quebec is regaining strength. The American housing market has improved significantly and manufacturers have also learned how to deal with the Chinese competition. There are still important challenges to overcome such as recruitment of qualified personnel and the shift to online sales. Mr. Pierre Richard, President of the QFMA, is happy to acknowledge that “Québec manufacturers are regaining lost ground!”

- 95% of exported Quebec made furniture goes to the United States. Since the American economy is doing well, this makes for a favorable market helping Québec manufacturers regain market share. Exports of furniture to the United States have grown from C$684 million in 2013 to close to C$964 million in 2015.
- New competition is a challenge that QFMA members will have to overcome. Vietnam has become a major player as deliveries to the U.S. have surpassed Canadian deliveries.
