MONTREAL – Mobilia’s retail furniture showroom in Toronto’s Design District was recently recognized for a Grand Prix du Design Award.
The award was presented to the teams of MXMA Architecture & Design and Jump&Love who collaborated on Mobilia’s showroom in the category of Interior Design – Commercial Space of over 500 square meters. The Grand Prix du Design Award honors the work of designers and architects who improve the quality of life and built environment of their clients.
Mobilia, a retailer of contemporary furniture, opened its Toronto showroom in 2020. The company’s marketing department worked closely with MXMA Architecture & Design and Jump&Love to create a space that offers customers an enjoyable and creative experience.
Highlights of the theme-based design, include:
- A long, black architectural structure runs along the center aisle, partitioning the space and creating a distinguished, theatrical ambiance, reminiscent of Italian settings.
- An interplay of angles that carries customers into Mobilia’s four worlds of style: Wow, Natural, Euro, and Spontaneous. Each of these four zones immerses customers in distinctive worlds where they can visualize a variety of layouts conducive to their tastes, aspirations, and lifestyles.
- The angles of a pop-up store in the center recreate the Mobilia logo. The pop-up store houses seasonal themes and products.
- A large, winding Carrera marble countertop, is the meeting place for interactions between customers and advisors. Multiple screens are available for easy access to the company’s website. Additionally, an inspiring gallery of custom-made accessories and lighting pieces adds a final touch to Mobilia’s worlds.
“Our goal was to bring to life a new customer experience that reflects the Mobilia brand in order to stimulate creativity among customers and inspiration among design lovers,” said Marie-Hélène Trottier, creative director at Jump&Love, and a Mobilia collaborator for nearly 10 years.
Mobilia, founded in Montreal by Hans Kau in 1966, is a family business with 10 locations in Quebec and Ontario.
