MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Canada’s biggest tradeshow for wood manufacturers has a new manager following acquisition of the event by CCI Media earlier this year.
The Woodworking Machinery & Supply Expo operates as part of Woodworking Network under the guidance of Harry Urban, who rejoins the show organization as Business Development Director after a 10-year interlude. "I am excited to be back and involved in the dynamic Canadian woodworking industry again and look forward to renewing acquaintances and friendships," says Urban. "The CCI team's goal is to build on the longstanding success and excellent reputation of the Woodworking Machinery & Supply Expo. It's critical for WMS to provide a complete showcase of the latest in woodworking technology, supplies and materials while also delivering high-value education."
Urban says the biennial WMS Toronto Show will take full advantage of the newly expanded International Centre, Canada's largest exposition space located in Mississauga, Ontario, will feature an expanded conference schedule during its run November 2-4, 2017.
"A big part of my job is to work with Canadian associations, educational institutions, industry suppliers, and manufacturers of furniture, cabinets and wood products to ensure that WMS stays on the forefront of the rapidly evolving industry," Urban notes.
Urban is a woodworking industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience in business-to-business publishing, trade shows, and conferences. A former editor and publisher of Wood & Wood Products, Urban traveled extensively throughout North America and overseas visiting and reporting on major manufacturing facilities and trade shows. He also coordinated Vance Canada's acquisition of the Woodworking Machinery & Supply Conference and Expo in 2006 from Reed Exposition Services.
Urban also served as Vice President Events/Design Group for Scranton Gillette Communications, where he managed all face-to-face and virtual events for publications related to infrastructure, horticulture, home furnishings, building, and architecture. Reach Harry Urban at [email protected]
Following overwhelmingly positive exhibitor and attendee reviews of WMS 2015, the show will again be staged in Halls 1 & 2 at Toronto’s International Centre, in Mississauga, minutes from the Toronto International Airport.
WMS will again partner with the University of British Columbia’s Centre for Advanced Wood Processing for a full-day conference program. The WMS education program is guided by an exhibitor and industry steering committee established during WMS 2015.
