Decor Cabinets Manitoba

MORDEN, Manitoba – Safe Work Manitoba honored Décor Cabinets Ltd. with its 2022 Safety Culture Award.

Décor Cabinets, No. 120 in the FDMC 300, has more than 500 employees and operates two manufacturing facilities. The company has maintained its SAFE Work Certification since 2018.

Safe Work Manitoba cited the leadership team at Décor for playing an active role in promoting a safety culture, including encouraging employees to participate in its HIRTS (Hazard Identification & Reduction Tracking System) program. Through the HIRTS program, employees make safety improvements in their work areas.

In addition, safety audits are discussed in department meetings and employees are asked for feedback on how to improve. One employee a shift is required to perform a daily safety checklist throughout the department to ensure there are no hazards prior to the shift. If any hazard is identified during the daily inspection, action is taken immediately to correct the hazard. Supervisors also write a job hazard analysis, risk assessment or safe work procedure at least once a week with input from employees who perform specific tasks.

In 2020, The Wood Manufacturing Council presented Stan Pauls, owner and CEO of Décor Cabinets with its 2020 HR Award of Distinction.
