BURLINGTON, Ontario – EcoSynthetix, a manufacturer of DuraBind no-added formaldehyde (NAF) adhesives, is basking in the glory of Swiss Krono's Be.Yond Particleboard receiving an award for outstanding furniture accessories at Interzum Guangzhou last month.
Kronospan claims, “Our newly launched Be.Yond products are the most environmentally friendly particleboards available and are produced using next-generation bio-based adhesives that deliver the highest indoor air quality.” The company adds that Be.Yond “does not compromise quality” for use in furnishings and interior design, including non-load-bearing applications on floors, walls, and ceilings. The product is being manufactured as part of Swiss Krono's One World collection of thermally fused laminates.
EcoSynthetix signed Swiss Krono Group as its first commercial DuraBind customer in the fall of 2016. Krono formally launched BeYond two years later, adding production in Zary, Poland, and Menznau, Switzerland.
"Our most important growth driver remains our commercial activity in the wood composites market,” said Jeff MacDonald, CEO of EcoSynthetix, in the publicly traded company’s first-quarter report. “We have made a series of important steps in our commercialization strategy with both our most significant commercial account, Swiss Krono, and our key strategic prospect. In each case, these manufacturers recognize the value that a bio-based resin can offer to retailers and end-users. Our DuraBind resin is a sustainable and healthier alternative to petrochemical resins. It offers benefits to both manufacturers, in reducing their carbon footprint, as well as end-users.”
