AUSTIN, TX -- Vince Papale, whose personal story of courage and intestinal fortitude was so compelling that Disney made a movie about him, will deliver the keynote speech at the 8th Annual Closets Conference & Expo, Feb. 15-17 in Austin.
Invincible, released in 2006 and starring Mark Wahlberg, is the inspiring tale of how Papale at age 30 and without the benefit of college football experience, earned a spot on the Philadelphia Eagles 1976 roster. Not only did Papale defy the odds of making the NFL, he became a stand-out special teams’ player and was voted captain of the Eagles special teams.
Papale was selected by the fans as the best Special Teamer in the Eagles' 75-year history. He has also received numerous awards around the country for his charitable contributions and efforts including the coveted Vince Lombardi Award for Courage for overcoming his bout with colon cancer. Papale, who authored the book, “Invincible – My Journey from Fan to Team Captain,” has been a frequent speaker for business and non-profit groups.
As keynote speaker of the 2012 Closets Conference, Papale will share his trials, tribulations and ultimate jubilations. His speech will put into context how small business owners can succeed in these fragile economic times by learning how to tap one’s inner strength to overcome adversity and become stronger in the process.
Papale's presentation will help kick off the three-day Closets Conference. The day ends with the popular Industry Networking featuring presentations of CLOSETS Top Shelf Design Awards and the Association of Closet and Storage Professionals' annual Pioneer Award.
The Closets Expo opens on Thursday, Feb. 16, along with the start of the 3rd Custom Cabinet Conference.
