Steaming chamber

Q: What reference book is it that has a sketch for a walnut or cherry "steaming chamber?" I had two customers today who asked me to steam their lumber in my kiln, but I tell them, "No, you can't really use a kiln chamber." I think I can build a chamber but just can't find which book had that in it.

A: Go to "Drying Eastern Hardwood Lumber," U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Handbook No. 528. It is out of print now, but large libraries will have a copy. Small libraries can get a copy on Interlibrary Loan. The plans are in Chapter 7, pages 61 to 67.
