Conifex Timber Inc., a diversified lumber and wood market company, announced it has issued 1,819 common shares of stock at a deemed price of $8.50 per share.
Many sawmills in Northern Europe have expanded their lumber sales outside the Europe market the past few years resulting in an increase in non-European exports from 27 percent of total exports in 2007 to 43 percent in 2012, reports the Wood Resource Quarterly. The biggest changes have been in shipments to Northern Africa, Middle East, Japan, China and the US.
U.S. hardwood lumber exports totaled 94 million board feet (MMBF) in December 2012, an 18% increase over December 2011. Total 2012 exports were up 10% from 2011 to 1.32 billion board feet, just 0.4% shy of the 2006 record.
British Columbia's forestry export growth calls for a strong rebound of 18 per cent in 2013, after a flat 2012. Forestry accounts for 30% of the province's exports.
