LAS VEGAS - MasterBrand Cabinets Inc., emphasized fashion, new styles and applications, and substantive innovation in storage, lighting, and customized designs at the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show 2014.

For MasterBrand's first appearance at the show in three years the new items were almost mindboggling. With its family of cabinetry brands — Aristokraft, Decora, Diamond, Homecrest, Kemper, Kitchen Craft, Omega and Schrock - each section of the booth merited close examination. We didn't see everything, but here are some standouts.

Omega custom cabinets showed its new Tarin door, featuring a horizontal grain and a gray finish -Pumice. The semi-translucent, spatter gray makes for a softly weathered tone. Versions of grey seen thoughought KBIS were paired at Omega with a new veneer Walnut wood grain in horizontal lines - another KBIS trend. This type of look works with contemporary, Asian or Mid-Century design.

Omega also showed its new Full Access program, which offers furniture-quality designs (and its says 10% more interior cabinet space).

Diamond, known for its line of Logix organization solutions. Noteworthy was an under-cabinet Tablet Holder, very practical as iPad cook books catch on. A lazy susan with pullout drawers, and a wall cabinet with pull-down shelf that brings the wall cabinet down to a more convenient level represent aspects of Universal Design as well.

Diamond's 2014 lineup features a new series of recessed-panel cabinet doors: the transitional, clean Caldera or Hanlon door styles, a Shaker-inspired Leeton style, or a modernized look with the Rothshire or Cullen door.

Metal-wrapped doors appeared a several points at KBIS 2014, and MasterBrand's Decora Cabinets showed their take on the trend with a new line of aluminum framed doors from Element Design: seven door profiles, five colors and 20 inserts make kitchens unique. Decora also partners with  Enkeboll for decorative embellishments.

MasterBrand's Decora has created a basic floor plan in which a variety of architectural elements such as a tank topper, storage tower and vanity platform, as well as floating shelves or mirrors, are placed in the exact same arrangement. Combined with Sherwin-Williams® custom color finish options, you can easily create a look to love.

Speaking of Universal Design, Masterbrand's stock cabinetry line, Aristokraft, showed the adaptable wall vanity sink base allows a standard bath vanity to transform into an ADA-compliant wheelchair access option, with a simple change.

For the mudroom (or passageway form the garage to the home), Aristokraft has a space-saving utility cabinet, where brooms and mops are kept out of sight. A 6-inch wide base pullout cabinet, great for frequently used small items, and the 12-inch-deep open base cabinet that transforms an end cabinet into a useful landing place for cookbooks or dishes.
