Move over Emmys, Golden Globes and Oscars. The most anticipated industry awards of the season kick off this month with the 2014 Custom Woodworking Business Design Portfolio Awards and 2014 Closets Top Shelf Awards.

Now in its 21st year, Design Portfolio honors custom woodworkers for outstanding design and execution in seven categories: residential furniture, freestanding; residential furniture, built-in; architectural millwork; commercial/institutional; kitchen/bath cabinets; countertop/solid surface and specialty products. Entries can be uploaded at woodworkingnetwork.com/designportfolio; all submissions will be accepted until October 31. Winners will be featured in a special December digital edition of Custom Woodworking Business as well as in the January 2014 print issue.

On the heels of Design Portfolio is the 8th annual Closets Top Shelf Awards, which honors designers for their creative closet and home organizational designs. Revamped categories include: garage; walk-in closet – wood or melamine; reach-in closet – melamine or wire; home office – wood or melamine; showrooms; and specialty rooms (pantry, laundry, etc.). Entries will be accepted at woodworkingnetwork.com/topshelf until Jan. 31, 2014. All winners will be highlighted in the May 2014 print issue of Closets.

Beyond acknowledgment in both our print and digital publications, Design Portfolio and Top Shelf winners also will be feted at the only national live industry design awards ceremony, to be held during the 2014 Cabinets & Closets Conference & Expo at the Garden State Convention Center in Somerset, NJ, April 9-11. Check woodworkingnetwork.com/closets for more show details.
