The collaboration of TAKA and WPR in the field of profile wrapping and panel lamination has led to a number of innovations. Among them are HMPUR adhesives developed for specific applications, including: 2308.25PV for profile wrapping with rigid foils; 2308.20 for glossy lamination; 3308.20 for edgebanding; 2308.28P for high-gloss profiles and panels; 2308.1T for flat lamination with PVC and PET foils without primer; and adhesives for laminating using roll coater applicators. WPR has also developed the NWM laminating line for glossy and matte panels up to 2200mm wide.
Gluing, Laminating and Veneering
Laser manufacturer Trotec Laser is expanding its offerings with the addition of solid wood panels, panels with authentic wood veneer, plywood panels, and MDF to its portfolio of single-ply and multi-ply laser engraving and cutting materials. The company says the expansion of its materials business makes Trotec a one-stop resource for high-speed laser equipment, high-quality engraving materials, and application support.
Timber Products says its hardwood plywood is produced under the GreenT label, which means it's environmentally certified. The panels are offered in a full range of hardwood veneer species, in a variety of grades and core options. The company also offers RhinoCoat prefinished panels for its entire line of hardwood plywood products.
Midwest Automation manufactures an industrial line of 3D shuttle- and clamshell-style laminating presses for three-dimensional laminating applications. The product line is capable of laminating a variety of decorative overlays including flexible and rigid vinyls, Kydex thermoplastic sheet, surf(x), and polystyrene.
The Betterley Twin-Trim Router trims and finishes laminate in two uninterrupted operations, says the company. The non-marring guide first rough trims the laminate, the router is then rotated to finish the laminate edge without filing. Using one tool, one bit, no lubricant, and no adjustments from start to finish greatly increases efficiency, consistency, and product quality, adds Betterley.

Panel Processing says its Wilderness Collection consists of rustic and realistic wood grains so authentic they bring the outdoors in. Four of its new melamine paper colors even feel real to the touch, now with textures highlighting the natural features of real wood. The Wilderness Collection is available on flat panels of MDF or particleboard to manufacture the components a company needs.
Vac-U-Clamp's FT 900 is an entry-level thermo-foil press and features a large vacuum pump that the company says is not found on competing machines. It also features a built-in tutorial on the touch screen that answers questions and supplies hints to simplify and control the process. The company also offers an optional set of ‘non-stick’ coated platens for the FT 900 that prevents pre-glued film from sticking to the machine.
NewStar Adhesives offers adhesives for Panolam Surface Systems Nevamar and Pionite laminate products. The adhesives are designed for use on countertops, store fixtures, architectural millwork, and at construction job sites, and are available in a range of sizes. Adhesives include SCAQMD & OTC compliant, non-chlorinated products with low VOCs and fast tack.
Roseburg has expanded its Duramine collection with six new thermally fused laminate (TFL) designs. The designs include Charcoal Chestnut, Ribbon Walnut, Rogue River Maple, Frosty Chestnut (pictured), Navy, and Woodland Grey. The new designs are available via Roseburg’s Quick Ship program and are offered in two- or one-sided options. All Roseburg composite panels are available with the option of FSC certification.
