Students network with 32 wood tech firms at Pittsburg State event
PITTSBURG, Ka. - Pittsburg State University (PSU) is hosting its 11th annual Wood Tech Company Day, a two-day event that unites hopeful students with 32 wood industry companies.

On February 22 and 23rd, current students and PSU graduates have the opportunity to connect with the area's leading companies and pursue internships and full-time employment.

"One of the challenges we face is having enough students to meet the demand of the industry and so some of the perceptions within the wood industry people don't necessarily understand what the career options are what are the opportunities,” said Charlie Phillips, a professor in PSU's wood program. Phillips told Four States news that there are only around 60 students in the school's wood program.

PSU runs one of the nation's leading woodworking education programs. Over four years, students will become masters - honing their craft in the university's 250,000-sq-ft state-of-the-art facility.
