Illinois Lock Co. introduces a plastic cam lock (Model PC634) that it says offers users a lower-cost choice over the traditional zinc die-cast cam lock. The new plastic cam lock features a glass-filled nylon barrel and plug, which reduces the weight and the cost of the lock significantly over the traditional die-cast zinc lock, without significantly affecting its ability to provide adequate security, says the company. The lock is available in black and includes 8 tumbler double-bitted keying, offering 50 key codes. Most of its features parallel those of the traditional die cast metal cam lock, according to the company. Either nut or clip mounting is available, and there is a range of straight, formed or hooked cams available.
