Rockler Introduces Line of Mini Carbide Turning Tools

Rockler's new line of Mini Carbide Turning Tools feature pre-sharpened, rotatable, replaceable carbide cutter heads built to deliver the longest possible duration between sharpenings, as well as ergonomic rubber handles for comfort and safety. The 4" shafts and mini cutter heads make them ideal for small, detailed work on pens and intricate spindles. The tools are offered individually in three profiles: square-, round- and diamond-shaped, and are also available in a 3-piece box set along with a wrench for rotating and replacing the cutters.

Rockler Introduces Line of Mini Carbide Turning Tools "These carbide tools offer a number of advantages over traditional turning tools," said Steve Krohmer, Vice President of Product Development at Rockler. "The solid carbide cutting edges hold up for a much longer time, and when they finally do get dull, you just loosen the scew and rotate the cutter for a brand-new edge. Once all the edges have been used up, you swap in a new cutter. No sharpening is required, which saves a great deal of time and expense."

A unique feature of these particular tools are the handles, which are made of solid ash encased in a thick, molded rubber grip for reduced fatigue during long turning sessions. For stability when used against the lathe's tool rest, the shafts of the turning tools also feature machine-flattened backs. Each turning tool comes with one replaceable cutter and a wrench, while the 3-Piece Set also includes a sleek black case.

The Round (48162), Square (44622), and Diamond (47459) Mini tools retail for $69.99, while the 3-Piece Set (45142) retails for $189.99. The Round, Square and Diamond Replacement Cutters retail for $19.99, $23.39 and $29.99, respectively (Item #s 47907, 47661 and 42282).
