SAN RAFAEL, CA - Celebrating 50 years of service to Marin and surrounding counties. Jim Keith and wife, Margaret, founded Aurora in 1961. Known then by the name "Aurora Plastics," the company originally started as a plastic laminate countertop fabrication shop, but grew to include many other products.

In 1965, a well-known contractor in Marin, Johnny Riberio, approached Aurora to start the fabrication of cabinets. Riberio needed someone to build quality cabinets in a timely manner.  Aurora entered the cabientry field.

When Corian was introduced to the market in the early 1970's, Aurora was one of the first fabrication shops to work with it. Since Aurora was now known not just for plastic laminate countertops, it changed its name in 1989 to Aurora Cabinets & Countertops, Inc.

When the early 1990's recession hit, Aurora again changed with the times.

"We added a showroom and became a factory direct dealer for several lines of cabinetry," says Jim Keith. Offering Woodland Cabinetry, Bellmont Cabinetry and Omega Cabinetry brands, "Now, we have the ability to service anyone," Keith says.

In 1993, the second generation followed in Jim Keith's footsteps. Daughter Donna Susmani, who came back in 1987 to help with the bookkeeping and son, Marty Keith, who returned after college in 1989, to work in the cabinet fabrication shop, are now  owners of Aurora.
