The Johnson Dresser - from 32-year-old Zack Schaffer - features tiger maple and handcarved rosewood. The frame is beveled and mitered, and the joinery is mortise and tenon or slip tenon.
34-year-old Sean Fischer's Viking Long Table is built from rough-cut beetle killed pine and features a 10'x39" steel frame and faux rivets. The base features mortise and tenon joinery. The table was stained with Minwax Special Walnut.
35-year-old Ian Defeo's City Trestle Table is crafted from solid sapele mahogany and features birch wedges. "It's a modernization of classic mid-centry modern and shaker furniture design," he says. The joinery is handcut with mortise and tenon joints, bridal joints, and wedges.
The Walnut Butcher Block Island - from 35-year-old Mark Thomas - features a 4-inch-thick end-grain lamination walnut top. The piece's function is its main attraction, he says, as its work surface will withstand a lifetime of heavy knife usage. The top is attached to the soft maple base with shop-made wooden buttons. Three hand-dovetailed full extension drawers offer functional storage.
32-year-old Daniel Threlkeld's Hawk Hardwood Floor Inlay is a 10' by 6' hawk inlay designed and constructed for the owners of a log home called Hawks Beak Lodge (which he also built). The inlay is constructed entirely from Brazilian koa and hickory hardwood flooring.
From 31-year-old Dan Clines, the Farmhouse Day Bed features mortise and tenon joinery, dovetail slats, and a live-edge walnut top. The walnut's defects and holes are filled with epoxy, "enhancing the bed's individuality and letting the piece truly be itself."
33-year-old Gerardo Zavala's Estratos Sofa & Loveseat combo was developed "to be front and center of any living space." Each frame is made entirely of American white oak.
35-year-old Daniel Umulis' dresser is crafted from hard maple and features dovetail joinery, a custom stain blend, and soft close drawers.
The Birdcage Rocking Chair - from 35-year-old Luke Barnett - contains 13 uniquely steam-bent parts that were carefully designed to cradle the human body, he says. "The joinery is classic Windsor chair technology featuring round double tapered through tenons. Each tenon is super-dried before assembly, allowing the wood to swell when it reaches equilibrium - with the environment locking the joint together permanently." The project was inspired by Sam Maloof, Peter Galbert, and Gustov Stickley's fumed oak finishes, he says.
Last but not least, we have 24-year-old Enrique Fierro's Mahogany Coffee Table. The table is of solid mahogany and features hidden drawers, which are stained true black and have Blum soft close undermount slides. "The drawers were meticulously made and fitted to work so smooth, and be so inconspicuous, that you would never know they were there," he says.
